Beautiful, durable, and functional are words to describe cast aluminum patio furniture. This material is one of the most popular types used in outdoor patio furniture and for a good reason. Cast aluminum can be formed into any shape. Beautiful floral motifs, forest animals, insects or any other shape can be formed into this outdoor furniture. Other materials such as glass, tile, marble or stone can be added to enhance the beauty. Once designed and created, cast aluminum outdoor furniture can be painted any color you like.

Cast aluminum outdoor furniture is beautiful but also durable. Cast aluminum can stand up to summer and winter conditions. It is even heavy enough to withstand winds that blow and topple over other patio furniture. Because the furniture is made of aluminum, it will not rust. (Very cheap aluminum furniture may rust or break due to inferior aluminum materials). Most quality cast aluminum outdoor furniture is powder coated. Powder coating is the technique of applying dry paint to a part that is then placed in an oven. The powder particles melt and coalesce to form a continuous film.

Cast aluminum furniture needs to be cleaned during the year based on usage. Usually one to two times a year is sufficient. Clean your furniture with mild detergent soap and water. Never use an abrasive cleaner, brush or sandpaper as this will remove the paint. If you ever scratch or dent your furniture it is best to repair the damage. Find a good quality paint that can withstand the weather conditions of outdoor furniture. For small jobs, autobody paint can be used; it comes in many different colors. For small nicks, use a small artist's brush to transfer the paint from the plate to the furniture. Texture can be enhanced with a clean, dry brush after the paint becomes tacky. For bigger scratches, a can of spray paint can be used. A dry lint- free cloth towel can be used to texture the paint as needed. For chipped paint or deep scratches all the way down to the metal, after applying the first coat of paint, use a fine grain silicon sand for texturing the surface. Apply the silicon sand to the wet paint. Recoat the surface again after the first coat has dried. Always remember to use light coats of paint rather than one heavy coat.
